Russian travel blogger Marina Ershova visited Mexico and described the locals' love for one drink with the phrase "a real sect." She shared her story in her personal blog on the Zen platform.
According to the author of the publication, this is about Coca-Cola , which Mexicans are truly addicted to. “I’m serious. They don’t just drink it here, they worship it. The locals are ready to exchange clean water for sweet swill with bubbles. In some villages, people spend more on cola than on food. This is not a joke!” she explained.
Moreover, in the Mexican state of Chiapas, Coca-Cola is used as a ceremonial drink, the author assured. “People in church drink it during prayers to ‘drive out evil spirits,’” she added.
The Russian woman explained her love for the carbonated drink by its cheapness. And in some states, Coca-Cola really does cost less than water.
Earlier, the same travel blogger admitted that Mexico is the absolute opposite of America. From her point of view, in the US everything is designed for consumption, while in Mexico people simply enjoy life, do not dwell on trifles and do not try to control everything.
